Global study on the state of payment data security

Gemalto PonemonThis 16-page white paper by Gemalto presents the findings of research carried out on behalf of the digital security giant by the Ponemon Institute. The findings are based on a survey of more than 3,700 IT and IT security professionals across the world and identifies the major risks to payment data security and how companies currently address them.

The paper begins by laying out the key results of the survey in relation to trends in payment methods, data storage and transit, cloud-based security, breaches of security and governance. It then goes on to analyse these results in detail and elaborate on current practices and concerns regarding next-generation payment platforms, authentication, encryption and investment in payment data security.

The paper concludes by examining variations in how payment data security issues are perceived and addressed between the different countries represented in the research.

This paper has been produced and sponsored by Gemalto and has been approved by the NFC World+ editorial team.
